Because you’ll be using different muscles and performing more intense motions, be sure to warm up more thoroughly than you would inside—especially when it’s cold. Cold weather causes your muscles to tense up, and while the workouts may be rewarding, a sprain or strain is not. You may be an experienced fitness genius, but exercising outdoors is something entirely new. The difficulty of the workout may differ based on the terrain, weather, and length of the journey.
