If you go to the gym and workout, then you know that your muscles need to re-cover afterward.
Sports massages
Sports massages started as a way to aid athletes who were training for a competition, game, or event, both before, during, and after, as a means of prepping the body, providing some prevention, and also relief if any injuries occurred to either the muscles or tendons. But, according to an article posted on TripSavvy.com, you “don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage. Sports massage is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion.”
Health in Hands
At our spa, your massage therapist will ask you about any current areas of concern causing stiffness, discomfort, or pain. It may or may not even be sports-related. Maybe you were rotating your mattress, and Ouch!
You may very well benefit from a sports massage as it may draw from some Swedish massage and Trigger Point massage techniques as well, helping “stimulate circulation of blood and lymph fluids” which helps break apart those knotty knots and allows for some stretching so you can have range of motion return to your area of concern, and so you can go back to rotating that mattress.
A sports therapy massage can even alleviate knee injuries, but make sure to let your therapist know where you are experiencing pain to avoid additional discomfort.
So, if you’ve wondered whether a sports massage is for you, it just might be. Try one and see.
